I’m going to break my neck here….

OK, I’ve lived in Southern California and Arizona all my life so I’m like a fish out of water right now. Global warming has caused ice to form on the streets of Tempe, AZ (I have that right I think, I saw The Day After Tomorrow). I almost fell over trying to get to someplace to each lunch. Its 2:30pm and there is still ice on the sidewalks (though it is melting fast). I know someone is going to die when their head cracks open after they fall (or pull their groin).

I wish I had Ice! There still isn’t enough of it on the lakes to fish off. grr, maybe by next weekend.
Sheesh, what a baby

Had enough ice that just about every school in southern Michigan was closed today.
It’s just starting to ice up here. It only takes a 1/4in or so of ice in San Antonio for things to start shutting down really quickly.
Meanwhile, we had near-70s this weekend, and haven’t even had a flurry this year. In North Carolina! I mean, it’s a temperate climate, but 70 in January? Sheesh!
I’m a proud wuss. I run the heater if it gets down into the low 70s.
The low today is much higher than yesterday so no ice, but I’m still not running in the morning again. Maybe I’ll start back up on Wednesday.
I live in west-central Wisconsin. Yesterday afternoon I went cross-country skiing near my house after a fresh overnight snow. Two high-school aged runners came through the woods on the trail, in shorts and long sleeve t-shirts. They stopped by the river, and one of them lay down in the snow and made a snow angel. Then they got up and ran off. The temp was -4 degrees. Winter is finally here! Couldn’t be happier…
I keep hearing from all of my friends in Tempe how crazy the weather is these days! It the opposite here in VA, but just as crazy for this time of year!
p.s. I wonder if we crossed paths at ASU Geography…
James, unfortunately So Cal isn’t much better heatwise lately. The water dish I have for the stray cat that lives in my backyard was a bowl of ice this morning. My car actually had frost on it this morning and I live Los Angeles!
Kinda reminds me of the time living in Mobile, AL in the early 80′s. I was in the 6th grade and we had a few days of below freeze, think it was in the high teens or low 20s. Well, the schools closed due to being too cold.
I thought that was sooo weird, after having moved to Alabama from Indiana. We never got out of school when it was that cold in Indiana. At the time I couldn’t understand why. Wasn’t as aware of the world at the time, a tad too young.
I quickly got over it, having a couple days off from school. The hardest part was getting any of my friends to go outside and play.
KoS
Like James I am also a proud wuss who gladly throws on a coat or fleece whenever it dips below 70 degrees. But I am enjoying our current cold snap if for nothing else than the novelty effect.

It’s hailing over here in sunny (?) Southern California. It came down pretty hard for about 15 minutes up in Santa Clarita where I do consulting. Now it’s just raining so my world’s starting to make sense again.
You know why it happened?
I was in Arizona for the last 10 days….
