I agree with Dave, the non ADF services that you can build with AGS and the REST api are very interesting. I think many of these types of services will be built using SqlServer 08 (for .Net devs anyway) but there is certainly functionality that requires AGS.

When they made a freely accessible download, I took another look at it and it is much improved in terms of speed and stability. AG Explorer could have strong merits as a delivery platform, although I don’t like it’s chances matched up against Google Earth and MSVE.

I’d be interested in information related to the .NET ADF, although it’s looking more and more like ArcGIS Server is a non-starter in my organization.
