Well how about this? Draggable routes in MapQuest.
One notable feature in this initial release is that Draggable Route functionality is included. This will allow developers to build applications that let their users dynamically edit their directions right from the map.
You can test it out here. Could MapQuest under the “new AOL” become a competitor again?

mouse-scroll zooming would be nice…
And to add to that, the mouse-scroll zoom with the center point being the cursor. That is one reason why I use Google maps over Yahoo maps. I really hate having to manually drag the center point to the cross hair for zooming to a specific point.
The AOL brand has been spent for some time now, and should be buried to save whatever dignity it has left. Rolling out new technology under a “New AOL” brand is foolish at best. The New Edsel, anyone?
I continue to be amazed at how many people still USE MapQuest. Any “map” page that takes up half my screen before I even see a map is going to get last place in my list of mapping sites.
I loved it in the movie “Knowing” with Nicolas Cage used Mapquest to enter in long/lat. If you didn’t catch it, he entered in 75 for longitude and a 44 for the latitude and ended up in New York City. Now, unless he hit a worm hole, this is virtually impossible.
Of course Nicolas Cage can do that, he’s Nicolas Cage. He isn’t a Bing Maps kind of guy.
His hair is a bird. Your argument is illogical.
/obscure reference?
I am happy to see that Map Quest has the most accurate highway alignments, interchanges and travel-overs for my state, only about one construction season old. Both Google and Bing maps are out dated by 24 months and ESRI’s maps for their free services are showing old highways that were realigned 5+ years ago.
Funny how MapQuest went from being a verb 7-8 years ago a la Google today (“I MapQuested directions to the party.”) to now being the kid who comes off the bench in the 9th inning for his token at-bat when the game is well in hand.
“C’mon Mapquest, you can do it! Drag those routes around the map. Good job! Everybody give a cheer for MapQuest.”
Mapquest – they’re sooo old school.
And still very, very much in the game. Check your facts, folks, before you diss these guys. [that said, it's about time they woke up and got moving again with some fubsy graphic interfaces and up-tempo look and feel.]

And while you guys are at WhereCamp5280 walk over to the MapQuest offices and cheer them on! Unfortunately the ESPN zone on the 16th St. mall just closed so that takes some of the fun out of the trip.
